Wake Forest Football announces the dismissal of Cody Preble and Dominique Gibson for violation of team rules.

Wake Forest Athletic Communications announced earlier today that redshirt junior center Cody Preble and sophomore running back Dominique Gibson have been dismissed from the football team for a violation of team rules. Neither Preble nor Gibson saw any on-field action in 2014.

Gibson originally came to Wake Forest as a linebacker from Glades Central HS in Belle Glade, Florida, before switching first to safety in 2012 and ultimately to running back during the 2013 season. Gibson had 53 carries for a total of 138 yards and 87 receiving yards. He has previously suspended for three games but has since been dismissed.

Preble, a redshirt junior from Park Vista Community High School in Lake Worth, Florida, was a three-star recruit in 2011 but has failed to make an impact at Wake Forest. Redshirting the 2011 season, he only played 12 snaps in 2012 and saw game action only once in 2013 during the season opener against Presbyterian.

The school has not announced reasons for the players' dismissals other than a "violation of team rules" but according to the North Carolina Court System, Preble has been charged with misdemeanor larceny. His court date has been set for January 27, 2015. While we do not know the reason for this charge, a misdemeanor larceny charge is classified as follows, according to the North Carolina Statute: Larceny of property or services valued at $1,000 or less is a Class 1 misdemeanor in North Carolina.

Assuming that an offender has no prior convictions, the potential sentence for a class 1 misdemeanor in North Carolina is a term ranging from one to 45 days of incarceration.
