He’d be eligible immediately.

Geno Thorpe, a graduate transfer from South Florida, is now considering Syracuse and Pittsburgh for his fifth, and final, year of eligibility, according to Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports.

As Rothstein notes in his tweet, Thorpe will be eligible immediately.

Thorpe is a 6-foot-4 guard who averaged 15.1 points per game last season for the Bulls. He also added 4.6 assists.

Thorpe started out at Penn State, where he played two seasons for Nittany Lions. He then sat out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules before suiting up for USF last year.

Coming out of high school, Thorpe was very interested in Pittsburgh — so it’s no surprise to see the Panthers on his list now. He also happens to be from Pittsburgh.

The argument for the two schools is simple: go home and play for Pitt or come to Syracuse and have a chance at the postseason.

Thorpe played 33 minutes per game last season for the Bulls, who went 7-23 overall (1-17 AAC).

Syracuse has two open scholarships for next season following the addition of Elijah Hughes earlier this month.
