The Carolina football class of 2017 added another member over the holiday weekend when Florida running back Michael Carter verbally committed to UNC. Carter has also received scholarship offers from Florida, Louisville, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia, and others, according to Inside Carolina.

Carter and his family traveled to Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels' spring game, and it was there that the Tar Heels really made him "feel like a priority," which led to him returning for Larry Fedora's Freak Show camp. Carter actually committed to Fedora at Freak Show, but decided to keep his decision a secret until his family's Fourth of July celebration.

Ranked as the ninth best running back in Florida and the 45th best running back overall, Carter makes the 14th member of the incoming 2017 class. Carter ran for 1,474 in his first two high school seasons, and was off to a strong start as a junior before completely tearing his PCL and requiring surgery.

Like many people who have decided to attend UNC before him, Carter remarked that he fell in love with the campus and area, ultimately believing that he could see himself there in the years to come. It's certainly not hard to see the appeal of a place like Chapel Hill, and the improving football program can only help recruits in the future decide to call Carolina home.
