The UNC basketball class of 2017 doubled on Monday when shooting guard Andrew Platek committed to he Tar Heels. 247Sports has him ranked 217th in the nation and sixth in the state of New York. He brings some incredible outside shooting to the Tar Heels, having made 39% of his shots from outside the arc during his 2016 travel season.

Platek visited Chapel Hill last month and seemed very taken by the campus. He had a long conversation with Roy Williams and his parents, and it was obviously enough to convince him to end the recruiting process in favor of becoming a Tar Heel just one month later. Seeing how amazing campus is should clearly be considered a secret weapon for getting recruits to commit.

Although Platek's talents from long range got him noticed, he is out to prove that he is more of a complete basketball player. He told Andrew Carter of the News & Observer that he wants to be a guard who can play either position, and believes he has what it takes to run the offense as well as hitting a three-point shot.

The current basketball class of 2017 now consists of Platek and Raymond Felton's nephew, Jalek Felton. Felton was a five-star guard recruit who committed to UNC back in December. Their arrival on campus is still more than a year away, but it's a pretty exciting foundation that will help shape the upcoming teams.

Are you excited about the addition of Platek? Where do you think he ends up fitting into the team next year?
