The 6'8'' power forward will look to become one of the leaders for the Orange this season.

There are still some questions about what the Syracuse Orange lineup and rotation will look like when they take the court this upcoming season. However, one thing that we can be sure of is that senior Tyler Roberson will be starting at the power forward position. He is coming off a season during which he averaged 8.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. It is because of those 8.5 rebounds that Roberson will come into this season as one of the top rebounders in the nation.

Roberson is currently working out at the Melo Center while taking summer classes at SU. In an interview on Thursday with Donna Ditota of Syracuse.com, he talked about the importance of weightlifting and how it can help his game.

"When I'm attacking the rim, if I'm playing somebody that's maybe a little bit bigger than me, I think now I do a lot better job of holding my own, pretty much. That's a huge reason why I lift. I'm able to finish a lot better through contact and I think that's made a huge difference in my game. That's why I want to continue to get stronger."

Roberson also talked about how he is trying to improve his jump shot and offensive game.

"I've worked on it a lot. Over the past couple years, I haven't really had the chance to shoot it consistently, or how much I wanted to. I want to prove it's a shot that I can make."

The Orange will definitely need Roberson and others to step up in the scoring department as they lose three of their top scorers from last season. Michael Gbinije, Trevor Cooney, and Malachi Richardson accounted for 44 of Syracuse's 70 points they averaged per game. Roberson said that he has talked to Boeheim about the upcoming season and how he will need to step up his game.

"We've got some guys coming in and some guys coming back, but I definitely think I can help fill that void. Those are some of the things I've talked to him about. I want that. I want it to be like that. I think it will be. I've been working hard every day. I think this year, I'll have a chance to prove a lot of things that maybe I haven't done in the past. I think that will be a challenge. I'm looking forward to it."
