Yesterday, Southern Illinois took out Virginia Tech 69-64, despite 21 turnovers from the Salukis.  The odd line of the game came from Coleman Collins who finished with 0 pts in 15 minutes of action, but only committed one foul.  Seth Greenberg went with Cheick Diakite, who did finish with 9 pts and 9 rebs in lieu of Collins.

Rumor in Blacksburg is that Collins is lacking the fire and motivation on the court, which could be understandable after everything he went through a season ago.  We hope he figures things out, but it serves as a reminder that these kids are being affected daily by things going on off the court, as well.

In the other game on Sunday, Virgina took out Maryland Eastern Shore 104-63JR Reynolds (4 rebs, 4 asts) and Jason Cain (8 rebs) each scored 22 pts to lead the way for the Cavaliers.  Mamadi Diane (17 pts, 6 rebs) and Sean Singletary (11 pts, 9 asts, 6 rebs) also finished in double-figures.

The big news on Monday is the start of the ACC/Big 10 Challenge.  The games will consist of 1 tonight, 5 on Tuesday, and 5 on Wednesday, all carried on the ESPN network.  Be sure to check out our game notes on each of the games, but here is our predictions on the games.
