You’d think in mid to late April we’d be running a little short of things to talk about in the ACC. Nope… we got spring football, basketball articles, and a story on one terrible day 5 years ago. OK let’s get into what the ACC bloggers have got going on.

Maryland picked up Michigan transfer Evan Smotrycz. Smotrycz will have to sit out next season and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Tomahawk nation says use Florida State’s spring to evaluate EJ Manuel’s pocket passing nothing more. I’m pretty sure we won’t be seeing Manuel throwing more than 50 times a game either. I have to agree about spring games. Spring games aren’t usually much of a reflection of how a team will play in the fall. Personally spring games I’ve attended I look at what individuals are doing rather than performance of whole units.

Larry Fedora appears to be off to strong start recruiting for his 2013 North Carolina class. KeepingitHeel gives us their lowdown. I checked out the class myself, and I have to agree it’s shaping up to be a pretty good group. The offer list of several of the players is quite strong.

DukeSportsBlog says don’t underestimate the 2012-2013 Duke basketball team. A couple of things, I’m reading Michael Gbinije may transfer out of Duke. We’ll have to keep an eye on that. Also I think freshman Rasheed Sulaimon can be an early contributor to the Duke basketball team. I’ve watched Sulaimon in a couple of All-Star games, and he can flat out shoot.

Who doesn’t love a good ole fashioned rivalry? NC State blog StateFansNation disputes the announced 17,000 fans at the UNC spring with some visual evidence. You be the judge…

SouthernPigskin say the Clemson spring game was a mixed bag. Tajh Boyd went 20-26. Even with 2 ints that’s a good sign for the Clemson Tiger’s offense.

Lastly GobblerCountry remembers 5 years later the tragedy that struck the Virginia Tech campus when a lone gunman killed 32 students and faculty. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Virginia Tech friends.
