Georgia Tech and Coach Pastner has had a season that many thought they wouldn’t be close to, as they traveled to New York and Madison Square Garden one more time on Thursday to take on TCU for the NIT championship.
However, it wasn’t meant to be as the Cinderella story ended Thursday night with an 88-56 defeat to the Horned Frogs.
The Yellow Jackets simply went cold and the shots did not fall Thursday night, as they ended their night shooting 35.7 percent from the floor. Josh Okogie, Ben Lammers, and Quinton Stephens ended with a combined shooting of 6-for-31 from the floor, while as a team, only two players finished in double-figures (Okogie and Tadric Jackson with 19 points off the bench).
Georgia Tech also had 17 turnovers in the game and were dominated on the boards 44-30.
For TCU, the Horned Frogs shot 51.5 percent from the floor, led by Kenrich Williams who had 25 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Vladimir Brodziansky chipped in 18 points as well for TCU.
It ended a four game winning streak for the Yellow Jackets in the NIT and now finishes their season with a 21-16 overall record.
