Game Recap

Enhanced Box Score

In a first half that most were unable to watch, you can be sure Oliver Purnell wishes he were in the same boat.

Purnell had to watch his team score just 12 points and tally an offensive efficiency of 39.0.  Duke wasn't much better scoring just 30 points with an offensive efficiency of 90, well below their season averages.  The second half was pretty much moot as Duke outscored Clemson 44-41 in a foul-fest.

Game Notes

  • Coming into the game Oliver Purnell hoped the Clemson bench would make the difference, but Clemson got just 7 points from their bench.
  • Duke was even more narrow minded in their attack as the trio of Kyle Singler, Jon Scheyer, and Nolan Smith scored 60 of Duke's 74 points and Duke got just 3 points from their bench.
  • In the brother battle, it appeared the Plumlees would get a surprising win, but a late surge saw the Bookers win 12-10.  Who would've thought the matchup would be that close?  Once again Clemson didn't get enough from Trevor Booker.
  • Looking at the numbers, Duke was outrebounded in the rebounding percentages and saw Clemson turn the ball over at a slightly higher rate, but the difference was simply in shooting the ball.  Duke's defense in the first half was stifling causing Clemson to have a FG% lower than their turnover rate.
  • Both Duke and Clemson entered the game with an eFG% on the season of 55%, but while Duke finished with an eFG% of 56.3%, Clemson finished at just 35.7%.
