While 2013 small forward target Semi Ojeleye may be a new name for some Duke fans, it is one definitely worth watching.
The Blue Devils apparently offered Ojeleye a scholarship during an unofficial visit he made to Durham last week during the K Academy.
The 6-foot-6 forward out of Ottawa, Kansas currently has offers from several big time programs including Illinois, Kansas State, Missouri, Indiana, UCLA, Stanford and Wisconsin. But according to Ojeleye Duke made a good impression during his recent visit.
Ojeleye told Nation Recruiting Spotlight.com that it was a "blessing to get an offer from them." He came away impressed with the Blue Devil coaching staff, which is understandable considering you are talking Mike Krzyzewski, the winningest coach in Division I men's basketball history.
Prior to his visit the Blue Devils had not offered Ojeleye but apparently his unofficial visit was the staging ground for Duke's coaching staff to offer another in what is turning into a very large group of 2013 targets which already features one commit in shooting guard Matt Jones.
Duke is also in the mix for the top target in the class in Jabari Parker but also Julius Randle, Allerick Freeman, Austin Nichols, Marcus Lee, Ishmail Wainright, Robert Hubbs and Beejay Anya. So it is safe to say that the Blue Devils have cast an extremely wide net for this class and many are hoping on landing more than a few big fish from this class.
After the frustrations of the 2012 recruiting season that saw Duke miss out on several key targets so it makes sense that the Blue Devils staff is aiming high.
Ojeleye certainly is a talented player on the rise in the eyes of recruiting experts so it will be interesting to see how his recruitment plays out and how the mutual interest between he and Duke develops over time.
