With only one full day left before National Signing day the Duke Football coaching staff is still hard at work trying to add to its class. The scored a nice addition Monday with the addition of defensive end Michael Mann, a 6-foot-4 220 pound three-star prospect from Valor Christian in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
This is a recent pick up for coach David Cutcliffe and his defensive coordinator Jim Knowles as Mann just took his official visit January 20.
Mann becomes the 18th verbal commitment to join Duke's current 2012 class and the fourth member of that class that will join the defensive line unit that is trying to add depth.
Originally committed to Arizona State, Mann opened up his recruitment earlier this January and had offers from Colorado State, UConn, Boise State, Air Force and Iowa.
Mann is good friends with his high school teammate and fellow Duke commit Max McCaffrey son of former Wake Forest and Denver Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey.
The addition of an athletic tight end like will serve Duke's defense well in the future. For now it is likely that Mann will redshirt to get stronger and adjusted to the college game.
