Crazy weekend for Wake Forest athletics all-around. There was the Friday night win over Ferrum, the heartbreaking loss to Notre Dame, and a loss in the similar vein to FSU in Women's Soccer yesterday...or simply life as a Wake Forest fan. Here are some links from around the net that discusses these things in depth.

Ask Jeff Bzdelik a question, and he'll promise to answer it honestly. The candor appeals to many Wake Forest players, who like knowing where they stand with their coach and hardly benefit from sugar-coated critiques. And there was a lot to break down last season.

Florida State dethrones Deacs for ACC soccer title - Wake Forest - NewsObserver.com
After five unsuccessful appearances in the ACC championship game, Florida State took a cue from Sunday's opponent to finally break through and claim its first conference title in women's soccer. Last year, Wake Forest became the lowest-seeded team to win the ACC championship when its keeper saved three penalty kicks in a shootout to deny Maryland and give the Deacons their first conference title. They entered as a No. 5 seed. This year, the sixth-seeded Seminoles (14-6-1) surpassed Wake Forest's accomplishment.

My Take on Wake - Grobe’s Decision Was Made For Him | JournalNow.com
The easiest decisions I’ve ever made in my life were made for me. Where to go to school, who to marry, when to have children, when to buy our first home, were all calls that were so patently obvious I never gave them a second thought—or had to. In the same vein, I imagine coach Jim Grobe feels the same way about his decision to do something none of us thought we’d ever see, play a freshman for the first time in the ninth game of the season.

"And we’re going to feel like there were a few times that we beat ourselves. And that’s going to be a funny feeling because I think against a team like Notre Dame, a team that is as well-coached and as talented as they are, most people would say to lose by seven to these guys is a pretty good thing. But I think when we get the kids back together Monday morning and start looking at the film we’re going to be very disappointed in the opportunities that we had that we didn’t take advantage of.’’

Wake Forest falls 24-17 to Notre Dame after coming up empty on 2 trips to red zone - The Washington Post
Twice in the second half, Wake Forest had the ball at or inside the Notre Dame 10 while down by a touchdown — and came away with no points. "That really killed us," receiver Chris Givens said. "It was devastating for our offense."

Notre Dame’s victory over Wake Forest is a tough sell for Brian Kelly - Chicago Sun-Times
"What I said last night was during this journey towards getting to a consistent performance, once in a while you have got to gut one out," Kelly said. "You really just have got to dig down deep. That’s what I saw. This team really, really dug down and they clearly stayed together no matter what to get the job done."
