It was with a heavy heart that Jimbo Fisher spoke to the media immediately after the 35-30 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday. He seemed stunned, at a loss for words. Now that he's had a day to think about the mistakes and issues facing this team, he addressed the disaster of a season so far.

Below are some quotes and comments from both Fisher and EJ today along with some injury updates.

Jimbo Fisher:

"We've gotta be more consistent. We have to learn to do the right things the right way every time. We have to be technically sound."

"It's obvious what we're doing wrong. I know the answers to fix that. We just have to go and do it."

"James Wilder Jr. didn't see much more action [in the second half] because we were passing and he isn't where others are in pass blocking."

"What we're doing on defense is sound. How we're doing it is what's causing problems."

"EJ came in and played well for us. His read to Rashad was good. [Rashad] runs good routes too."

"If we need to make a personnel change, I will go to the coach and tell them that. The coaches are more critical on themselves than people realize."

On offensive line: "Datko will need another surgery. I don't expect him to play any more this year. We just don't have the bodies to throw on the line right now."

On recruiting: "Losing doesn't always scare recruits. Some see it as an opportunity."

"I liked our locker room after the game. You could see leaders developing. The guys stepped up."

"EJ should be good to go against Duke."

EJ Manuel:

"Coach Fisher warned us to be careful on Twitter and Facebook. We made the decision to get off completely. That was our call."

"My shoulder won't be an issue anymore."

"The main thing after losing is remaining as a team. The guys were really upset. We had a team meeting last night and everyone had a voice."

"In August I never would have thought we would lose three straight games."

"Duke will feel confident after our losses. I don't blame them for that."

"We didn't handle things like we should've. Guys were dragging. We've got to change."

Chris Thompson Update

I've been told Thompson has fractured his T5 and T6 vertebrae. He'll be in a back brace for three months at the least. Some are saying he's a long shot to ever play football again as this injury is serious to come back from. We'll see how he progresses to know if that's true. Thoughts and prayers to Chris and hopeful for a speedy and complete recovery.
