Wake Forest: Randolph Childress to be retained as Assistant

Evan Daniels reported earlier this afternoon that Randolph Childress will be retained by Danny Manning as an assistant. The 2013-2014 season was Childress' first season on the bench for the Demon Deacons. In the prior season he served as the Director of Player Development. The Wake Forest legend will be joined on staff by fellow assistants Steve Woodberry and Brett Ballard.

Childress was a three-time all-ACC player and a two-time all-American during his Wake Forest career. In 1995 he led Wake Forest to its first ACC Tournament title since 1962. In that tournament he scored 107 points in just 3 games, which broke a 38 year old record. His number 22 jersey hangs in the rafters of the Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum.

Childress was instrumental in the further development of Codi Miller-McIntyre's game. He has also served as a mentor to the rising junior. Barry Jacobs went into detail on that relationship here. That relationship and the development of Codi will be critical in how well Wake Forest will perform during Danny Manning's first season.

You can follow Randolph on Twitter.

Now, for the greatest crossover in ACC Tournament history.
