To be frank, the ACC is a loaded conference each and every year. The number of prospects that join their ranks annually with a legitimate shot at the NBA is rather astounding. This is attributed to a solid reputation of all of its member schools, stellar recruiting, and phenomenal coaching. Quite simply, high school stars the nation over grow up dreaming of playing for an ACC club, and for some those ambitions do come true. Let’s take a quick look at 5 of the top ACC basketball Prospects for the upcoming season.

Kyle Guy

Kyle Guy will be a 19-year-old freshmen coming to the University of Virginia by way of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. Guy is an impressive guard who will add a great deal to the offensive presence of the Cavaliers. He is known to be an outstanding ball handler who isn’t afraid to shoot. He is an 88 percent free throw shooter, so if he can withstand the pressure of playing in the ACC, this will be great as Virginia attempts to close out games late. He averaged 13.5 points and 1.5 assists per game in high school, to go with a 45.6 percent field goal and 27.9 percent three-point percentage.

Dewan Huell

While the University of Miami might not be spoken of in the same breath as the Duke’s and UNC’s of the world, they are certainly making strides. Their deep run in last season’s March Madness, and their recruiting of Dewan Huell to fill a critical void at power forward evidenced this. At 6’9” and 210 pounds, Huell is a native of Miami, having played his high school ball at Norland High School. In 121 games played at the high school level, he averaged 12.6 points per game and an impressive 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.

Harry Giles

Duke would naturally have one of the top recruits in the ACC. This season that honor goes to Power Forward Harry Giles, who ironically is going to be joined by three other freshmen that are also five-star recruits. Giles leads the pack as far as freshmen talent in the ACC goes. He come from Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina where was named to the USA Today All-USA First Team in 2015. He is already a top NBA draft prospect, so Duke will be looking to use him early before he declares.

V.J. King

Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinal will be tournament eligible and eager to get back in the big dance. They will be helped by one of the top prospects in the ACC in small forward V.J. King. At 6’7” and 179 pounds, he is quick and can put up some major points. He played his high school ball in Fairfax, Virginia at Paul VI High School.

Tony Bradley

Rounding out the top 5 prospects in the ACC for next season is a center named Tony Bradley going to perennial powerhouse North Carolina. He is a Florida native that is poised to be a starter early on in his collegiate career. Playing for Bartow High School, he averaged well over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.
