Syracuse's starting tight end will make his first start Saturday vs. Maryland.

Syracuse Orange tight end Josh Parris will play Saturday against the visiting Maryland Terrapins, head coach Scott Shafer announced Thursday during his weekly press conference.

"Josh Parris has had a good week of practice so we're looking forward to getting him back on the field," Shafer said to Syracuse.com's Stephen Bailey.

The redshirt sophomore missed the Orange's first two games, as he has been recovering from minor knee surgery that took place right before SU's season-opening victory versus the Villanova Wildcats.

The addition of Parris will bring much needed experience to the roster, as the Orange (2-0) have been trotting out two first-time starters, sophomore Kendall Moore and freshman Tyler Provo. Both player were serviceable but not impactful combining for three receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown in their two starts.

Last season, Parris play in all 13 games for the Orange catching 13 balls for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

Kickoff between the Orange and Terrapins will be at 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the ACC Network, which includes WSTM-3 in Syracuse.
