The most questionable position on the Syracuse football team just got a bigtime upgrade.
Calling the Syracuse Orange defensive line thin would be an insult to their weight and muscle mass but true in terms of depth and experience. SU took a step in improving both on Saturday when it got word that Colorado Buffaloes grad transfer De'Jon Wilson would be coming to Cuse.
Wilson was most recently listed at 6-foot-3, 250 pounds. He is expected to compete for a starting job this fall.
At Colorado, Wilson accumulated only 23 tackles during 22 games of action as a redshirt freshman and redshirt sophomore. He did not accumulate any stats as a redshirt junior. He is eligible to play right away and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Wilson was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and picked the Buffs over offers from Kansas, Marshall, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple and Toledo.

There are multiple articles out there about Wilson and how "this could be the year" but it's unclear why or how it never clicked for him at CU. Perhaps we'll hear more in the coming days.
Meanwhile there have been rumblings for a while that Delaware State grad transfer Gabe Sherrrod and SU were no longer on the same page and Mike McAllister confirmed that news as well on Saturday.
Sherrod originally picked Syracuse back in February, but the Orange are moving in another direction.
Hmm. Interesting phrasing and could mean multiple things. His transfer had been held up due to the need to take another class at DSU and you can't help but wonder if there wasn't more to that.
