Syracuse basketball has eight straight road losses, most in Boeheim era

Well this isn’t good.

The Syracuse Orange basketball team managed to chalk up another record this weekend. As we know, the team continues to make history but not in favorable fashion. After Saturday’s disappointing defeat against Notre Dame, the Orange suffered its eighth straight road loss, the longest streak in 55 years.

Of course, 55 years includes Jim Boeheim era. The ultimate record is 15 straight road losses which accumulated from February 1961 through February 1962 when the then Orangemen lost 15 straight road games. I have a feeling that Syracuse won’t let things slide that far, but eight straight road losses is still horrid nonetheless.

The streak dates back to last season where the last Syracuse road win was against Boston College on Valentine’s Day. The Orange then lost on the road at Louisville, North Carolina and Florida State to finish out the season.

Syracuse is 0-5 on the road this year with losses to Wisconsin, Boston College, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Notre Dame. As of today Syracuse is (obviously) still without a road or neutral court win.

Syracuse’s next opportunity for a road victory will have to wait until next week at NC State as the Orange host Wake Forest on Tuesday and the currently No. 10 ranked Florida State Seminoles on Saturday.
