Someone Needs To Have A Road House Conversation With Terrel Hunt

Where's Patrick Swayze when you need him?

Terrel Hunt hasn't done the best job is handling The Punch Heard Round The Dome.

For a few days after the game, a lone tweet sat atop his Twitterfeed, whining about the reaction his ejection got rather than taking responsibility for his actions. Eventually, a straight-forward apology followed a few days later and the whole issue appeared to be over.

At a media run-through on Tuesday leading up to Syracuse's game against the Central Michigan Chippewas this Saturday, Hunt was asked his goals for the game:

"I just want to win. I want to stay in the game all four quarters and win. That’s it."

A worthy goal for sure. Asked why he threw the punch...

"No reason. I got upset and got out of my character. Shouldn’t have did it, but it happens."

Well, there was a reason, but, sure. Good work.

"There were a lot of things said...I'm not going to speak on it, but, you know, dirty things that happened. I let it affect me. I let it get the best of me."

Oh Terrel no...the "I'm not gonna make excuses but here's an excuse" tactic never works. It only makes you look petty.

Hunt also reiterated over and over that it won't happen again and he needs to be the leader out there. That's true. But he needs to be the leader when dealing with the media as well. A Greg Paulus or a Ryan Nassib would have shut those questions down by not giving out anything other than "I need to do better and do whatever it takes to win." You've got to Russell Wilson these things. Be boring. Be a terrible interview. Be generic. And certainly don't make excuses when you're the one guy who can't afford to make any.

Basically, we need Dalton from Road House to have a chat with Terrel about how to deal with opposing players and media members from here on out. I like to think a meeting between them would go a little something like this...

Dalton: All you have to do is follow three simple rules: One, never underestimate your opponent...expect the unexpected; Two, take it outside, never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary; and Three...be nice.
Terrel: Come on!!
Dalton: If somebody gets in your face and calls you a c********r I want you to be nice.
Terrel: Okay.
Dalton: Ask him to walk, be nice, if he won't walk, walk him, but be nice, If you can't walk him, one of the others will help you and you will both be nice...I want you to remember, that it's the job, it's nothing personal.
Terrel: Being called a c********r isn't personal?
Dalton: No, it's two nouns combined to elicit a prescribed response.
Terrel: What if somebody calls my mama a whore?
Dalton: Is she?..I want you to be nice.. until it's time..to not be nice.
Terrel: So, uh, how are we supposed to know when that is?
Dalton: You won't..Shafer'll let you know...You are the bouncers, he is the Cooler; All you have to do is watch his back and each others....and take out the trash!

End scene. Terrel and Dalton beat CMU, go on to lead Syracuse to the Military Bowl where they trounce Maryland again. High-five freeze-frame and...ROLL CREDITS!
