NC State has announced that seven football players Jerod Fernandez, Josh Jones, Justin Jones, Jumichael Ramos, Pharaoh McKever, Johnathan Alston and Mike Stevens -- have been suspended for Saturday's game at Louisville after an incident with a BB gun.

Fernandez, a starting linebacker, is the team's leading tackler with 58. Josh Jones is a starting safety who ranks fourth on the team in tackles with 38, and who has been credited with five broken up passes.

"These are good young men who made a mistake in not recognizing that this activity could've resulted in someone being injured," head coach Dave Doeren said in a statement. "We've discussed this with them & they understand they're being held responsible for their actions."

All seven players suspended were either freshmen or sophomores.

BB guns aren't that cool, college football players. Seriously.
