The Virginia Tech coaching staff has been pushing extremely hard on the recruiting trail since the season ended, leaving many to wonder who would ultimately fit into the mix when crunching the scholarship numbers.

On Wednesday afternoon, the answer got a bit easier.

Seth LeDay, the rising redshirt-junior brother of former Virginia Tech star, Zach LeDay, informed the team of his decision to transfer, according to Mark Berman of the Roanoke Times.

The 6’7″ 200 lbs. LeDay transferred from junior college prior to last season, but sat out the year due to NCAA compliance rules for transfers.

He had two years of eligibility remaining, and was expected to be in the rotation as a forward next season for the Hokies.

Instead, he now leaves Blacksburg without ever suiting up for a game under Buzz Williams.

With the departure of the younger LeDay, the Hokies’ coaching staff now has one scholarship available ahead of next season.

As Berman points out, the next shoe to potentially drop is that of 4-star guard M.J. Walker, a 2017 prospect who is expected to make his decision in the coming weeks between the Hokies, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, and Florida.

Walker is the 25th-rated recruit in the class of 2017, and his commitment would be a coup for the Hokies.

The Hokies also remain in the running for former Connecticut forward Juwan Durham, a 6’11” transfer who averaged just over a point and a half in eight minutes per game as a freshman last season.

Durham is deciding between the Hokies, Duke, and Notre Dame, and a decision is expected in the coming weeks.
