Previous and Upcoming Rankings

1) Tarvarus McFadden, Florida State

Tarvarus McFadden made a number of All-American teams last year at CB, and was a first team All-ACC pick. In the long tradition of elite CBs at FSU, you can add McFadden. Last season he was tied for nation’s lead with 8 interceptions. He’s a near certainty to go in the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

2) Jaire Alexander, Louisville

NFL scouts love a sub 4.4 CB. That’s exactly what Louisville has in CB Jaire Alexander. He was a 2nd team All-ACC player last year, and had 5 interceptions last year while normally covering the opposing teams best WR.

Alexander is a projected 1st round NFL pick, and is on several pre-season All-American teams.

3) M.J. Stewart, North Carolina

North Carolina got good news when M.J. Stewart decided to return for his senior year. He had 11 passes deflected and 66 tackles in an honorable mention All-ACC season. He will be leader on this years North Carolina team.

He has definite pro-potential, and I had him on this list last year.

4) Brandon Facyson, Virginia Tech

Take a look at my top 5 CBs going into the 2014 season.  You’ll Brandon Facyson’s name there after a a stellar freshman. Facyson in my opinion hasn’t quite reached his potential, but the 6’2″ cornerback could have a special senior season.

The Hokies have a quality pair CBs with Facyson and Greg Stroman. Facyson has top 3 round ability.

5) Lance Austin, Georgia Tech

Despite being only 5’10, Lance Austin has become one of the better CBs in the ACC. He was a two-time ACC Defensive Back of the week in 2016, and led the ACC with 15 passes defense and 12 pass breakups.

He also had 3 interceptions and to go along with 50 tackles in 2016.
