Ah Clemson… despite wins in recent years over LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Ohio State and FSU the term Clemsoning lives on after a gut-wrenching loss to the Seminoles where seemingly the Tigers had the game won.

Clemsoning - The act of delivering an inexplicably disappointing performance, usually within the context of a college football season.

I’ve normally equated “Clemsoning” to having inexplicable losses as a favorite. I’m not sure taking the #1 team in the country to OT qualifies. Not losing to a team outside the top 15 since late 2011 would seem to indicate the term “Clemsoning” should have run its course. Apparently it now includes snatching defeat from the hands of victory.

Clemson is not alone though. I think there are several schools that need their own entry in the Urban Dictionary that we seemed to have forgot about. To qualify for a term you need multiple recent results of that nature, or a historically significant streak or game.

UGAgging – The act of being overranked in the pre-season. Were you ranked in the top 5 last year only to lose 5 games? You just UGAgged. In 4 of the last 6 years UGA finished the year ranked lower than when they started. In 2008 the Bulldogs started the year ranked #1 only to lose 3 times.

Hooing – The act of being completely owned by your biggest rival. Virginia is currently on a decade long losing to Virginia Tech. If you go a decade without beating your closest you could be Hooing.

Kentuckying – The act of simply being owned… Who has the longest currently active losing streak to one team? Kentucky… they haven’t beat Florida since 1987.

Michiganing – The act of losing to a FCS school.  Michigan’s loss to Appalachian St. in 2007 is the Power 5 conference loss to a FCS school that all other FCS wins over Power 5 schools are measured by. You were in the top 5 Wolverines!

Hokieing – We can’t let the Hokies off the hook… theirs is the act of losing BCS/major games. Virginia Tech is abysmal 1-6 since 1996 in major bowl games. Get to multiple major bowls, that’s great! Lose just about of all them, then you could be Hokieing.

South Carolining – The act of never actually winning a championship in football. Never won a national title in football? How about going over 40 years since your last conference title? Don’t worry you’re just South Carolining.

UNCing – The act of losing to East Carolina. Virginia Tech you lost to East Carolina too, but not in the spectacular fashion UNC has. The Pirates are averaging more than 62 points a win the last two years against the Tar Heels. Henceforth if you lose to East Carolina you just UNCed that game.

Miaming – The act of joining a new conference never to be heard from again. The Hurricanes were one of the great dynasties of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. When they joined the ACC in the mid 2000s, they were expected to be a major football force. They have never even won a division title.

Ohio Stating – The act of having a lengthy (at least 10 game) winning streak that amounted to absolutely zilch. Urban Meyer won his first 24 games at Ohio State, and he had no bowl wins and no national titles. In fact the Buckeyes have nothing to show for such a long winning streak.

Oregoning – The act of reaching November in the top 10, only get yourself knocked out of the national title picture. It’s happened 5 times since the 2009. Oregon has reached November in the top 10, and 4 times they lost in November. You think Oregon is going to make a run at the national championship? Just wait until November so they can get beat. In 2010, they actually made it to the BCS Title game, but if it happens that many times, well that’s Oregoning. I wonder if Oregon will Oregon again this year…

If you can think of any other new Urban Dictory terms, let us know we’ll add them to the list…
