OL T.J. Haney to Transfer From Wake Forest

The Wake Forest offensive line just got a bit smaller.

The first player in the 2015 recruiting class to commit to Wake Forest is no longer with the program. Wake Forest announced today that T.J. Haney, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman, plans to transfer from the program.

Haney initially committed to Wake Forest in April of 2014. He was a consensus 3-star prospect out of Gaffney, South Carolina, and chose Wake Forest over Vanderbilt, UCF, Marshall, and San Diego State.

T.J. has a massive frame at 6’6”, 320 pounds, but probably wouldn’t have made much of an impact on the field this season. As of spring practice he was technically on the two-deep, but he was going to receive limited snaps this season. While he’s just a redshirt freshman, there are a number of other freshmen (true or redshirt) and sophomores on the roster who are going to play ahead of him, and playing time was probably going to remain limited moving forward.

I remember interviewing T.J. prior to him committing to Wake, and he a was a pleasure to interview. He is a great kid, and I wish him the best finding a new home.
