Pittsburgh was able to flip a Buckeye commit on Wednesday and then add another for 2017.

Running back Todd Sibley, a 5-foot-9, 214-pound prospect from Akron, Ohio announced that he would be decommitting from Ohio State and committing to Pittsburgh, landing a key recruiting piece in the backfield for 2017.

“I would like to thank Coach Meyer, Coach Alford, Coach Patoni, and the rest of the Ohio State coaching staff for everything they have done for me and ultimately just giving me a shot.  They have opened many doors for me and I can never repay them for that!  It has been a true honor and blessing to be apart of the #Select17 and I know that each member of that presitgious group will be successful.  I can guarentee it!  I’d also like to thank Buckeye Nation for all the love and support.  They have been nothing but supportive for me throughout this entire process and it has meant a lot!  I’ve learned throughout this entire process that this is probably the most selfish decision you’re going to make in your life, and you have to make the right decision.  You can’t do what everyone else wants you to do, you have to do what’s best for you at the end fo the day!  And I’m finally going to do what’s best for me.  Thank you God for giving me this opportunity, and thank you to all my close friends and family for being with me!  I’m officially decommitting from Ohio State and committing to The University of Pitt!  Coach Narduzzi I’m headed your way!  It’s the beginning of something special I promise!  Remember my name”

Not long before then, an offensive guard from New Jersey announced his commitment to Pittsburgh.  Owen Drexel, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive guard joined the 2017 recruiting class, giving the Panthers their seventh and eighth commitment.

Sibley is one of their highest ranked commitments and first running back for 2017, while Drexel is the first offensive lineman to commit for the Panthers as well.
