Mike Brey keeps rolling along on the recruiting trail.

The job Mike Brey has done for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over the last three seasons is nothing short of remarkable, and finally the success on the court is turning into success on the recruiting trail.

Last recruiting cycle Brey brought in a top-50 player in the form of forward D.J. Harvey. Last month he made a splash in the 2018 class by getting four-star guard Prentiss Hubb to commit. Lastly, he brought in UConn transfer forward Juwan Durham, who was a former four-star recruit himself. That brings us to today when 2018 four-star guard Robby Carmody gave his pledge to the Irish.

Carmody, a top 100 recruit per 247Sports, is a 6’4” guard out of Mars, PA. I watched a short amount of video of him before writing this, and first thing that jumped out to me was how smooth is game is. Carmody has great range with his easy right handed stroke, which should play very well in a Mike Brey offense. He also has the knack of driving and getting to the basket. He’s not the most explosive athlete in the world. He’s probably more of the make of a Steve Vasturia with just a few more hops, but that is no knock on Carmody or Vasturia. Vasturia had one heckuva career.

Carmody is a name I’ve heard associated with Notre Dame over the interwebs the last year or so, so I’m not shocked that he picked the Irish. He held offers from some major programs such as Louisville, Maryland and Syracuse. Though, it seems his top three were Northwestern, Purdue and Notre Dame with him obviously choosing the Irish. With the commitments of both Hubb and Carmody, Notre Dame now has the No.8 recruiting class for 2018 according to 247Sports.
