Maryland: Disaster In Winston-Salem, Season In Jeopardy

The only thing that could have made yesterday's debacle worse would have been all of the QB's on the roster tearing their ACLs in a freak accident on the way back to College Park.

Diggs and Long are now gone for the season.  Brandon Ross is injured.  CJ Brown isn't right.  The team showed no fight against a pedestrian Wake squad.  Not only were the Terps listless, they didn't ask any questions of Wake.  Wake was barely troubled all game on either side of the ball.

The Randy Edsall era has not been a smooth ride.  It's been decidedly bumpy with the lone bright spot being his ability to recruit athletic skill players.  Unfortunately, none of them can stay healthy.

Regardless of the Terps horrendous luck with injuries, they clearly lack the bulk in the trenches to compete at a high level.  Maryland seems incapable of generating any push on offense off the line scrimmage and defensively, the pass rush in non-existent.

These are the times that try men's souls.  Some might suggest that teams are often able to rally when their backs are against the wall.  The theory goes, when their is nothing left to lose, teams can play looser and that translates into better execution.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any reason to believe that Maryland is capable of such a rallying cry.  More likely, I fear is a repeat of last season where we limp into the offseason with 6 straight losses.

Basketball season is around the corner and Maryland fans will inevitably turn their attention to the hardwood.  It's a damn shame too.  This team had potential.  Hopefully they can eek out a bowl so their is inkling of life as we head into life in the B1G.
