Congrats to the former Manual star.

The losses of Donovan Mitchell and Jaylen Johnson will result in something good for at least one Cardinal.

Former Manual high standout Dwayne Sutton will be placed on scholarship for the 2017-18 season. U of L made the announcement on Sunday.

Sutton transferred to Louisville from UNC-Asheville and sat out last season per NCAA rules. He was able to join as a walk-on in large part because his mother is a U of L employee, thus making his tuition at the school already paid for.

Sutton averaged 12.7 ppg and 7.7 rpg as a true freshman starter for UNC Asheville in 2015-16. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Big South Tournament after scoring 25 points and snagging 18 rebounds in the Bulldogs' 77-68 win over Winthrop. Sutton then scored 11 points in the team's NCAA Tournament loss to eventual national champion Villanova.

In March, Rick Pitino stated that some of the coaches on staff believed Sutton was “every bit as good” as Deng Adel and V.J. King, and stated that he expects Sutton to compete for playing time this season.
