Louisville's Deng Adel and Jaylen Johnson will test NBA waters

Two more Cardinals will go through the NBA pre-draft process.

Two more Cardinals have entered their name for the NBA draft today, as Deng Adel and Jaylen Johnson will follow Donovan Mitchell in working out for NBA teams and getting feedback. Donovan announced earlier today on his Instagram about his intentions to go through the early entrant process. Neither Adel nor Johnson will hire an agent, thus, preserving their collegiate eligibility.

On Wednesday afternoon, Louisville head coach Rick Pitino has confirmed that both sophomore Deng Adel and junior Jaylen Johnson will go this route.

Adel finished out the season averaging 12.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He also recorded several highlight worthy dunks throughout the season.

Johnson would finish out the season averaging 8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while playing 20.5 minutes per game.

Deng’s decision to follow roommate, and close friend, Donovan Mitchell really isn’t too much of a surprise. As is the case with Mitchell, it’s more likely than not that he’ll return after commenting on how much he still has left to work on.

Johnson’s decision to go through this process is a little surprising because most of the focus was primarily on what Deng and Don would do. But, this is the best option for Johnson, as he’ll find out how he is viewed by NBA scouts.

Same situation with these two as it is with Donovan, so both could come back if they decide they aren’t ready to head to the NBA just yet. They’ll have until May 24th to make a final decision.

Would hate to lose The Don and Deng Show so soon.
