Game Recap

After a frustrating few weeks of offensive play from the Louisville basketball team, the Cardinals exploded for triple digits in a 102-71 drubbing of Texas Southern Saturday afternoon at the KFC Yum Center. The victory was also significant in that it marked Rick Pitino's 400th as the coach of U of L.

Six Cardinals scored in double figures, led by Quentin Snider's 15 points. V.J. King also came off the bench and made another case for more playing time, scoring 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.

Texas Southern was within striking distance for the first 25 minutes of the game, but Louisville notched 11 of its 14 assists in the second half and shot 50 percent from the field after the break to pull away. Despite the loss, Tiger standout Derrick Griffin scored 15 points and pulled down 26 rebounds, the most of any player in Division-I this year. YouTube legend Trae Jefferson also appeared in a college game for the first time, and attempted 30 shots to score 27 points.

A number of guys, including Tony Hicks and Deng Adel, got a much-needed confidence boost, which is huge with just one game to play before the Kentucky-Virginia-Indiana-Notre Dame gauntlet. Now, we take some finals and wait a week.
