Game Recap

In its first true road game of the season, Louisville overcame a raucous home crowd and a 1-point halftime deficit to knock off Grand Canyon, 79-70 in Phoenix Saturday night.

U of L prevailed despite an unreal performance from Grand Canyon senior DeWayne Russell, who scored 42 points to almost single-handedly keep the Antelopes in the game during the second half. Louisville's size and depth still proved to be too much for Russell and company, as the Cards outrebounded their hosts by 11, and got 38 points from the bench trio of VJ King, Ray Spalding and Matz Stockman.

All that's cool and all, but I really want to spend the rest of this post on the GCU broadcast, namely this moment:

Overall, this is one of the weirdest nights of Louisville basketball I can remember. You had a rave-like crowd atmosphere, everyone trying to get onto the tweet scroll at the bottom of the broadcast, a dude dropping 42, and random appearance and on-air interview by Michael Bush, a tight game against a team that just lost by 12 at home to SIU-Edwardsville, and of course, Matz Stockman coming off the bench and dominating the last 6 minutes of the first half.

Louisville basketball in December is so freaking weird.
