Game Recap

I called out Louisville a little bit last when I said, last week’s 10 point win over Duke wasn’t good enough.  It wasn’t either when you need style points to get back into the playoff chase. Today Louisville made that game a distant memory with a near flawless 1st half against NC State and cruised to a 54-13 win.

This was same NC State team, that came in playing in playing pretty well. There had a 10-3 win over Notre Dame, and were a missed chip shot FG from winning at Clemson. NC State is not terrible team. Louisville made them look that way though in an impressive  win.

Maybe you can argue NC State had a hangover from the Clemson, but that’s not giving Louisville enough credit. Louisville looked every bit like the team that pulverized Florida State a few weeks ago.  Lamar Jackson added to his Heisman front running highlight reel with over 400 Total yards, and 4 total TDs.

The defense was flying all over the field, and held NC State to 250 yards and 13 points. This was exactly the type of performance Louisville needed. Honestly 4 of Louisville’s last 6 quarters haven’t been that good. The first half against Clemson and the Duke game were not Louisville at their best. Saturday we saw what Louisville is capable of. It’s an uphill climb for Louisville to get into the playoffs. They need the Pac 12 and Big 12 Champions to lose a game at the very least. Then they must be able to leap frog the loser of Michigan of Ohio State, as I think both of those teams will enter that game undefeated.

Impressive wins like this are what Louisville need. When the Cardinals play like this, try to argue they aren’t one of the four best teams in the country.
