Louisville football gets commitment from German offensive lineman

Bobby Petrino's 15th commitment from the class of 2017 might be his most intriguing yet.

Gerrik Vollmer, who was the starting left tackle on the German National Team and an exchange student in West Virginia last season, committed to Louisville on Saturday. The 6'5, 280-pound lineman attended camp at U of L last month.

 

Vollmer will attend The Taft School in Watertown, Conn. this fall, and then is expected to enroll at U of L for the spring semester. He becomes the fourth offensive lineman from the class of 2017 to commit to play for the Cardinals.

Though he hasn't been evaluated by any of the major scouting services, Vollmer did earn All-State honors last season in his first year participating in American football.
