Boeheim has been involved with Coaches vs. Cancer since 1993.

Each year, Coaches vs. Cancer presents the Circle of Honor Award to a college coach who "has shown extraordinary commitment and leadership" as a part of the program. Jim Boeheim will be the recipient of the 2016 Circle of Honor Award for his 23 years of active involvement with Coaches vs. Cancer.

Boeheim has been much more than a participant since Coaches vs. Cancer was founded in 1993. He and his wife Juli founded the Boeheim Foundation, which has worked with Coaches vs. Cancer for years. The Basket Ball held in Syracuse every year and widely led by Boeheim has raised millions for the program, and has served as a model for other similar events around the country.

Boeheim has been the national spokesperson for Coaches vs. Cancer and served as the national chairman of the Coaches vs. Cancer Council. He's already received the Coaches vs. Cancer Champion Award and will receive the Circle of Honor Award at the 17th Coaches vs. Cancer Invitational in Rochester; an event Boeheim has never missed.

Boeheim had this to say in a post on Cuse.com:

"I consider it a great honor to receive the Coaches vs. Cancer Circle of Honor Award. Tremendous progress has been made in the fight against cancer since the American Cancer Society and the NABC first joined together. Coaches vs. Cancer is as commited as ever to finding a cure and I'm proud to be a partof that."

Gerry McNamara and Mike Hopkins will both be at the Coaches vs. Cancer on June 12 to see Boeheim receive the award, along with a number of other renowned coaches from around the country dedicated to finding a cure.
