Game Preview: #1 UNC vs Fairfield

After an impressive dismantling of Temple in the season opener to take a 91-57 win, the Tar Heels open the home schedule against Fairfield

Needless to say the Stags will be vastly overmatched facing a UNC team that even without Marcus Paige showed there was no shortage of weapons. On of those weapons, junior big man Kennedy Meeks, completely dominated the paint in the season opener. The expectation would be more of that as well as healthy doses of Brice Johnson and Isaiah Hicks. Fairfield possesses some size but not enough to slow down the Tar Heel interior production.

While the Tar Heel big men should control the game Justin Jackson will look to get on track following a disappointing poor shooting night against Temple. Jackson was 2-7 from the field and 0-3 from beyond the arc on the way to an ORtg of 81. Only once last season did Jackson have two or more consecutive games with Jackson struggling to produce offensively. With the season opener under the belt, Jacskon should bounce back in this game.

This game is the second of potentially six or seven without Marcus Paige. Joel Berry stepped into the starting point guard role with great accomplishment. Likewise Nate Britt played well hitting three 3-pointers. More of the same is likely on tap with Williams giving both point guards plenty of opportunities to fill the void created by the injury to Paige.

Fairfield was 7-24 a year ago and opened this season with a 13 point loss to Yale. It is not a question of if UNC will win but how much.

UNC 105 Fairfield 62
