Delaware's Starting QB Joe Walker to Miss Wake Forest Game

The Deacs will be going against a backup quarterback on Saturday.

The Delaware Blue Hens will not be at full strength when they take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. We knew that the Blue Hens would be without starting running back Wes Hills, but late Friday evening The News Journal reported that starting quarterback Joe Walker will miss the Wake Forest game, and in his place will be Blake Rankin.

Blake Rankin is a senior quarterback who began his collegiate career at Rutgers, though he did not see any playing time. He played in 2 games last season, starting 1, and completed 11 of 19 passes for 111 yards. This season, he is 2-2 for 26 yards and a touchdown. He is not a running quarterback, so the Blue Hens will be very one dimensional on offense. They are very run heavy as is, but the loss of Walker will likely remove any option/read plays from the playbook.

The action begins tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. The Blue Hens are without their starting quarterback and running back, so the Deacs should absolutely move to 3-0.
