Perhaps its no surprise the fans that flock to the SCACCHoops.com live tempo-based stats the most are Duke, UNC, and Virginia fans.  Of course, none of those 3 teams were in action last night but we saw traffic on the website as if they were.   Instead, the train wreck effect happened as everyone tuned in to see if Clemson would lose to Lenoir-Rhyne in an exhibition.

Box Score

The Tigers trailed by as many as 13 points to Lenoir-Rhyne before coming back to tie the game late in regulation.  Avry Holmes had a big and-1 at the end of regulation to tie the game up in the final minute.  While it Donte Grantham was the star throughout regulation, finishing with 27 points, it was Jason Blossomgame who took over in extra time.  Blossomgame scored 8 of his 14 points in the two overtimes.  He also added 6 of his 10 rebounds in the extra frames..

The most concerning factor for the Tigers is their inability to defend the two against an undersized Lenoir-Rhyne team (56% from 2).   On the offensive end, Clemson struggled from long range, making just 4 of their 23 three point attempts.

More on the game...

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The men’s basketball team took on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in its only public exhibition Thursday night. Clemson rallied from a 12-point deficit late in the second half to force overtime and eventually won after two extra periods, 87-84.

“I am proud of our guys for finding a way to win the game,” said head coach Brad Brownell. “We had to battle through a couple of things and made a few big plays late, which helped us win this game. We never got into a good rhythm in the game. We have got to do better with our shooting and our offensive flow in the future.”
