Game Recap

It feels good to be back.

Louisville made itself known to the football world tonight by storming out of the gates and dominating a far inferior foe in Charlotte. While defeating a team at the 49ers level may seem unimpressive, there are teams out there who had a little trouble with it.

It seems like Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson wanted to get a head start on his Heisman campaign as he threw for 286 yards and 6 touchdowns. He dominated the ground attack as well, rushing for another 119 yards and and found the end zone twice on the ground. His 8 total touchdowns in the game ties an ACC record held by former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd. He distributed the ball very well as six different receivers grabbed a touchdown reception from a toss by Jackson. He tied former Cardinal Chris Redman’s school record of 6 passing touchdowns in a game. He would do all of his damage in the first half of the game as backup quarterback Kyle Bolin played the second half. Had Petrino not called off the dogs, who knows how many points U of L would have scored by the time the final whistle blows. I will be selfish and say that I wanted the shutout, but I’ll live with these results.

We’ll delve more in to this game as the weekend rolls on, but my god, football is finally back, and the Cards did not disappoint.
