Game Recap

On Sunday night, Miami won the Charleston Classic with an impressive 77-58 victory over Charlotte.  Sheldon McClellan (19 pts), and Manu Lecomte (15 pts), and Angel Rodriguez (13 pts, 5 asts) led the Canes offensive attack.  In a scheduling oddity, the Canes will leave Charleston and head to Charlotte to take on the 49ers for the 2nd straight game on Tuesday.

I checked out NC State for the first time as they defeated USF 68-65.  Despite allowing USF to get it close late, the Pack had control of the game most of the way.  Trevor Lacey was as good as advertised, leading NC State with 21 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists.  NC State took care of the ball (TO% of 12.8) and dominated the boards, rebounding 38% of their own misses and 77% of USF's misses.

FSU's nightmare season continued on Sunday as they lost another game to UMass 75-69.  The good news was the showing of freshman Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who scored 22 points in the loss.  FSU played without Aaron Thomas in the second half, as Thomas became ill at half and was taken to the hospital.  Doctors believe Thomas was dehydrated.  If you missed it, FSU broke out some turquoise uniforms for the game to raise awareness for bringing sports and physical activity to Native American and Aboriginal youth.

Notre Dame lost a heartbreaker to Providence 75-74.  The Irish simply couldn't stop LeDontae Henton who scored 38 points for Providence in the win.  Jerian Grant led the way for Notre Dame with 22 points and 5 assists, but the Irish simply couldn't get enough stops on the defensive end.  The Friars were especially effective from close range, scoring 28 points in the paint and making 69% of their 2 point attempts.

BC dropped another game 65-53 to a solid Dayton team.  It may be a long first season for Jim Christian.

In today's games, Clemson will have the stiffest test as they take on LSU in the Paradise Jam.  Wake Forest looks to bounce back against Nicholls State, Louisville will roll through Savannah State, and Pitt gets the host team, Chaminade, in Maui.
