ACC Leads NACDA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Final Fall Standings

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference is well represented in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Final Fall Standings released today with two schools in the top five and five schools in the top 21, more than any other conference. The ACC finished with the highest average rank of its schools among all leagues and is one of only two to have all member institutions in the top 111.

“The ACC had an excellent fall and we look forward to continued success in the winter and spring,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “The success of our programs is a tribute to the leadership of our schools, coaches and student-athletes.”

Florida State leads all ACC schools finishing the fall in third place with 358.5 points. The Seminoles had three top five finishes in women’s cross country, men’s cross country and women’s soccer. They also finished eighth in football.

North Carolina closed out the fall in fifth place with 342 points. The Tar Heels had an impressive fall campaign, including a national championship in women’s soccer as well as a second-place finish for field hockey. North Carolina also finished fifth in men’s soccer.

Virginia sits in 19th place with 235.5 points.  The Cavaliers earned top-10 finishes in field hockey and women’s soccer after an NCAA Title run in both sports.

Rounding out the ACC’s presence in the top 50 are Maryland in 20th place, Duke in 21st, Boston College in 40th, NC State in 41st and Virginia Tech in 44th. Wake Forest (53), Georgia Tech (83) and Clemson (90) posted top-100 finishes, with Miami placing 111th.
