Wake Forest has landed another excellent prospect.

The Wake Forest football program has had some excellent recruiting momentum over the past several days. Per 247 Sports' Barton Simmons, D.J. Taylor, a 2017 linebacker out of Huntland, Tennessee, has committed to play football at Wake Forest University. He visited Wake this past weekend, and chose Wake Forest over Vanderbilt. Taylor is currently ranked by 247 Sports as the 34th best linebacker in the country, and is a consensus 3-star prospect. D.J. Taylor is the second prospect in the 2017 recruiting class to commit to Wake Forest over the past four days. D.J. Taylor, and Taylor Powell (the player who committed on Saturday) are the two highest-rated prospects in Wake's 2017 recruiting class.

Taylor is an excellent prospect. At 6'2", 215 pounds, he has great size for the position. He is also a very good high school running back and ran for more than 1,600 yards last season, which demonstrates the level of athlete that he is. He, along with 2017 linebacker commit Jamal Riggins, should form an excellent group of linebackers in several years. Jake Simpson is another linebacker commit who comes from an excellent program in Buford, Georgia.

The Deacs might not be completely done recruiting linebacker in this class. The staff is still recruiting Chase Monroe, who is out of Davidson Day. He was high school teammates with current Wake Forest running back Cade Carney, as well as class of 2018 commit Sam Hartman. Wake Forest did not take any linebackers in the 2016 recruiting class, so taking several this cycle would make sense.

Today has been an excellent day for the Wake Forest football program.
